The Penny
The Penny is jointly authored by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford. This is one of those books that you simply can not put down, every page begs to be read and turned.
The story of a young girl, Jenny, abused by her father and not finding the protection she expected from her mother gets deep when something as seemingly insignificant as a penny changes everything she knows. A string of events introduces Jenny to a loving Father God, an employer, Miss Shaw that befriends and supports her and a friend, Aurelia, together with her family encourages and challenges her to live a live of truth and freedom.
The story touches on various issues such as physical and emotional abuse, family live, racial issues, misperceptions, trust and forgiveness. Most importantly it reminds us how God can use small things as reminders of his love and faithfulness, how he can use people and relationships in our everyday lives and how something small we can do to uplift someone’s spirit can mean the world to them.
I hope you can lay your hands on a copy of the Penny and enjoy this captivating novel.
